So after a breadth of posts, events, articles, ... throughout #obesitycareweek, we chose to highlight this one from World Obesity Forum.
This alarming global forecast mirrors what’s already happening in the U.S., where 18.6% of children are living with obesity. Beyond lifestyle factors, exposure to harmful food additives is another concern—12% of U.S. food products still contain dyes banned in California schools, raising questions about how regulations can better protect children’s health.
It lays down clearly the multi-faceted factors and need for broadening our approach when handling this topic. Within this larger lense, the obesogenic environment most of us live in, or even food deserts some live in is a massive hurdle.
It is far from trivial to make appropriate choices, especially when they are scarce and we consumers are often misinformed (𝘯𝘰, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘯'𝘵 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘮𝘴).
